To start the day I was in the archway building in a group of 3 other girls and we were given 8 glass coloured rings and some red thread. One of the rings was broken so we used this to our advantage. Using support of rope hanging from one side of the class room to the other, we connected the rings up using the red thread. This made our insulation piece. We were then instructed through a number of number of drawing techniques, drawing the negative space, drawing with both hands at the same time, one line drawings, drawing in different mediums and using circles and dots as lines. The drawing exercises was my favourite part of the day. The second part of the day consisted of using cut up clear plastic bags to make a textile piece which was then projected onto a white wall. I used paper to get a different perspective of the reflection.
Using a model with a white shirt I projected the textile piece onto the body to see if it could be used as a print/ part of a fashion piece on the body.
I really liked my tutors today as they made me feel really enthusiastic about the subject and made me view things in a different way through drawing and recording. It was very abstract and the best day I've had on the foundation course.
Today was all about fashion illustration and drawing. I found the day very rewarding as I got to practice my drawing skills I had learnt the previous day. My drawings started off all feathery and sketchy then became one line drawings. We experimented with overlapping different mediums, scribbling the shape of the body and drawing the out line on top, just drawing the outline, drawing the outline and using colour to create pattern and shape within the clothing, one material to change the textures, three materials to change when told, working from the top down drawing the model and finally, collaging with water colour and using the scissors as the pencil cutting the silhouette out.
The day began with going outside and recording buildings and structures through drawings and photos. These recordings then influenced my practical work of making 3D models influenced my the shapes of the buildings. Which were then manipulated into life size models and worn on the body.
While a friend modelled my piece I draw it using the techniques of, single line drawing, using both hands to draw, just the left hand, drawing the negative space, alternating between three mediums, rubber in one hand and pencil in the other, giving the drawing a concept.
